Mary Kell Powers, Litigation Paralegal at Wallace King Domike & Branson, and Ruth Lapointe, Senior Legal Assistant at Hogan & Hartson, presented “Managing Large Document Productions” at Legal Assets’ 14th BreakfastClub Training Session on August 15th. Focusing on the collection and production of documents, the session surveyed the essentials of what document productions accomplish within the ambit of the discovery process. Mary Kell and Ruth highlighted the steps involved in document productions and how documents are collected. They stressed that proper etiquette must be observed when paralegals collect documents at clients’ premises. The paralegal’s role in the document review process comprised the latter portion of their talk. A unique feature of this team-taught event was the expertise of the panelists: Mary Kell and Ruth each have over twenty of years of paralegal and case management experience earned at a number of prestigious Washington, DC law firms. The variety of their respective backgrounds and their give-and-take exchange culminated in an enlightening presentation.
